Fragrance Friday: The latest offering from Oscar de la Renta
June 24, 2016
Keeping in tune with Friday tradition on the site (of course when new fragrances are available), this week’s Fragrance Friday is dedicated to the beautiful new fragrance from fashion designer OSCAR DE LA RENTA. Called simply OSCAR VELVET NOIR, this eau de parfum falls into the floral woody musk category. Initially I thought it might be a bit heavy for me, but it turned out really great – it lasts long and has quite a lovely dry down. Top notes of sweet orange, ginger, jasmine and tunisian orange blossom give the scent an unexpectedly warm start that leads to a floral heart of osmanthus, rose and violet. The trail settles in base notes of woody cashmere musk, rich oud wood and amber to give it that warm and cosy winter night kind-of feeling.
Available in only a 100ml for R1345, the scent was launched last week and is available now at Truworths, Stuttafords, Edgars and Dischem. Aimed at offering the utmost in luxury, this rich and intense (but not too much) fragrance is encased in the most beautiful gold ombre bottle with gold embossed detail. The juice along with the packaging is delightfully indulgent, mesmerizing and opulent. You can’t help but fall under it’s spell, live large and dream big with this one!
