Reaching your ideal skin with Vichy
June 22, 2015
A while ago I was asked to go for a skin analysis at a Vichy counter upon which I see all the good points and concern areas of my skin up close. After my skin was assessed I was sent the exactly correct products to treat my skin in order to reach my ideal skin. According to the analysis my hydration levels were sufficient (because that is one thing I relentlessly concentrate on) and I had no spots but (horror) my pigmentation, although still fairly invisible to the naked eye, is becoming a concern. It was the biggest eye opener for me so from then on, I’m fixated on hydration (still), eliminating age spots and pigmentation and keeping fine lines and wrinkles in check because of my older age. The products VICHY has recommended for me in my taylor made regime are as follows, in the order I have been using them daily:
CLEANSING: PURETE THERMALE 3-IN1 CLEANSER – this is a perfect one step cleanser if you have sensitive skin. It is a cleansing milk, toner and makeup remover all in one and is super gentle on skin. The formula includes the legendary and award winning Vichy Thermal Spa Water and can be used if you are a contact lens wearer. I specifically like that I can use it directly on my face and pad it off, no rinsing required. My skin always feels super soft and gently cleansed afterwards. The milk is non greasy and contains shea plant extract which nourishes and acts like a magnet to draw out impurities. (R269 for 200ml)
EXFOLIATING: PURETE THERMALE SOFTENING EXFOLIATING CREAM – if you’re a fan of exfoliating like I am, this exquisitely gentle exfoliator will be one of your favorites. Sensitive skin can use it too and the rich creamy texture moisturizes while it gently sloughs away dead skin cells. I use this three times a week and it keeps my skin soft and smooth. The antioxidants and vitamin E extracts in the formula is great in protecting skin against free radicals. The granules are minute and abrasive enough to get the job done, but not so that it will irritate skin. (R269 for 75ml)
TONING: PURETE THERMALE SOFT AND SOOTHING TONER – you’ll use this if you tend to have dry and sensitive skin. It contains no alcohol whatsoever and is safe to use on all skin types. It cleanses even further and I often used it to remove stubborn makeup if I didn’t have the above cleanser on hand. It is really one of the most soothing and hydrating toners (due to the glycerin component) I have ever used and I love that I don’t have a tight feeling on my skin afterwards which is the case with most other toners . (R249 for 200ml)
CORRECT: LIFTACTIV SERUM 10 YOUTH ENHANCING SERUM – contains 10% Rhamnose which is a brilliant anti aging ingredient. This serum has such quick results that you’ll be left a little flabbergasted. It has a rich velvety feel to it and I use two drops at a time to smooth over my face. It instantly firms up skin to give it a tighter look and stimulates the dermis’s natural regenerating process. The immediate effects are that skin feels smoother, softer and pore size is reduced. With prolonged use the serum has a longer lasting lifting and anti wrinkle effect. I found it really hydrating and some evenings I could even go without applying a moisturizer over it. This really is a brilliant serum if you need to find one that works fast and has longstanding benefits. (R645 for 30ml)
DAY CREAM: AQUALIA THERMAL RICH HYDRATION CREAM – since I like ‘feeling’ product on my skin and this is my own taylor made regime, this cream suits my needs to a T. The formula is rich and melting and absorbs quickly while leaving a nourishing film on my skin. Because of the shea content, skin is left comfortable and hydrated all day long. This cream is also available in a lighter version if you prefer your day cream to be less rich. (R379 for 50ml)
NIGHT CREAM: NEOVADIOL MAGSITRAL DENSIFYING NOURISHING BALM – I use the version for dry and mature skin because I always feel the need for extra nourishment and because as age increases, more care is needed. My only complaint is that I can’t get this pot in liter size! I completely adore this balm and it’s densifying properties. It rebuilds the skin’s density layers with every day’s use. The velvety texture absorbs nicely but not too much, just the way I like a product I use at night time. Because this product is ultimately aimed at women 50-60 years and I’m only turning 40 this year I am completely assured that the right kind of work is done on my skin ahead of time. Definitely pro-active than re-active. It softens like a charm, densifies, makes skin supple and with the shea butter, safflower seed oil and rice bran oil my skin is nourished to the max. (R565 for 50ml)
EYE CARE: NEOVADIOL GF EYE AND LIP CONTOURS – loss of firmness and definition around the eye area is brilliantly addressed with this lip and eye product. It plumps skin up with moisture, fills up the area with hydration and takes care of bags under the eyes. I like that the formula is rich but non greasy and if you apply it and angle your face away from the light you’ll see it almost has a light reflecting quality that draws attention away from fine lines. (R485 for 15ml)
Having to test other beauty products makes it difficult to keep to one product/range for a whole month but I made a conscious effort to use the above prescribed products for a month and loving the results. Vichy is such a brilliant spa quality brand and honestly if you compare the prices with the results you’re getting it’s really good value for money too. The skin analysis at the Vichy counters are for free and you are welcome to ask if the consultant has any testers for you to try out.
