Pure hotness in this lush lip and fab fragrance combination
September 30, 2016
I swear, some days I leave the house with my not-always-so-posh gym ensemble, but rocking a fab fragrance and lush lip which in my opinion is completely allowed, totally doable and certainly socially acceptable. I hope. Most of all it makes a major difference in how you feel about yourself. Nothing like smelling like a dream and pouting your newest coolest lip color, right?
With the last of the cold weather dragging it’s feet I discovered this new rare and precious vegan fragrance collection from THE BODY SHOP called SCENTS OF THE WILD. My fragrance is called BOWHANTI and this cruelty free range consisting of four eau de parfums are brilliantly authentic interpretations of some of the worlds most beautiful natural smells. With names like Bowhanti, Swietenia, Nigritella and Kahaia they promise to be exotingly intoxicating to say the least. Bowhanti is a spicy woody scent reminding you of an Amazonian rainforest. The woodiness of the Wacapou tree is combined with patchouli and incense to give the fragrance a mysterious feel. The scent is modern and full bodied and I was really impressed with the longevity of it, maybe it’s because of the woodiness that resonates well with my skin. The words hot, steamy and enveloping come to mind when I wear this fragrance. Do not be mistaken, it is not sweet and overpowering. I’m really impressed with this range from The Body Shop, especially since the packaging is top quality too. The juices look elegant in their heavy angular shaped bottles with embossed sides. Since I haven’t tried the other three in the range (Swietenia is fresh floral, Kahaia is white floral and Nigritella is oriental orchid) I cannot comment on them but judging from Bowhanti I am prepared to wager total success on these new launches from the brand.
When it comes to the new lippie I tried – YSL has hit the ‘beaute’ spot right on with this range. In 2012 YSL BEAUTE launched their Vernis A Levres range that offered a range of super shiny lip lacquers that lasted long, shone like diamonds and color so intense it practically popped off your lips. This time around the brand launches VINYL LIP CREME that gives you 12 shades (see image below) to choose from in a consistency so sublime, I’ve worn mine for three days straight. (That says enough of a beauty editor/writer and makeup artist if you ask me). The formula is incredibly shiny, colors beautifully intense but gives lips a wash of liquid watery color that makes your smackers look juicy enough to eat. I found the creamy feel of the product super hydrating and the stain quality it has keeps the color hanging around long after sundown. The base of the formula has skin care properties, containing ceramides that hydrate and prep lips for the creamy color that is applied to the lip surface. The diamond shaped applicator makes it easy to line lips and also to create a dramatic cupid’s bow when the product is applied. With this range the packaging is an all over stunning, sleek and shiny piano black, slightly different from the original range in 2012 that had the black bottom and the gold top. Again there is a clear strip on the side to make the shade visible ’cause you’re going to need it, seeing as though you’re going to be buying more than one!
