Joyeux Anniversaire Lancome!
March 12, 2015
Two weeks ago I was honored to be included in the celebration as this iconic french brand turns 80 this year. Myself and a select group of Cape Town media were flown to Jnb and housed at the absolutely magnificent Four Seasons Westcliff hotel, joined Lancome’s international makeup director and trainer German Moyano for a Lancome makeup masterclass and rubbed shoulders with the who’s who in Johannesburg for the party of the year celebrating this amazing brand’s gift of french glamour and beauty to the world – the vision of the founder Armand Petitjean. I also learned one very interesting thing – the rose logo which is on all the packaging was inspired by the roses around the Chateau Lacosme, which was in turn the name that inspired the brands name.
Armand Petitjean, the founder of Lancome
At the masterclass with German we got to use the best products from the brand (see the featured image from this post) to create a step by step working day look, glamorous look and natural look as seen below.

German was great fun to work with and was full of praise for our SA makeup skills! The Lancome ladies were there to help us create the different looks, give advice and they were just so amazing I don’t think any one from the group walked away feeling like a lesser artist.
Two of us shared a work station filled to the brim with the very best of Lancome to work with during our masterclass
Of course beauty bestie Candice Lee and myself shared a station. We played to our hearts content! Read her feature on the event on her site www.inmybag.co.za
These Gloss In Love glosses were just too pretty not to photograph
Back in our hotel rooms we had time to unpack, catch up on some work and relax before getting ready for the party. Our rooms at the Four Seasons Westcliff was so luxurious and huge, of course I could not resist a bathroom selfie.
A tired and very unglamorous bathroom selfie in my suite before the party preparations began
I was inspired by the Queen of Class to do an outfit post! Thank you my Candice Lee!
The party started around 19:30 and of course it was so beautiful, I had goosebumps on my arms most of the time during the presentation. I wish I could load the video up for you to see, but it showed Lancome is not just about glamorous beauty, it is about the joy and happiness evoked using their products. It is not just about a lipstick, or a fragrance or a model – it is about the women around the world that use it, what it means to them and how beautiful it makes them feel – that is true beauty. Thank you to Nina and everyone involved who included us, pampered us, spoiled us and the wonderful hotel staff who catered for every need a beauty brat could think of. Getting into bed that night my mind was filled with the brilliance of the brand – champagne wishes and caviar dreams, darlings!
PERfect party atmosphere!
Expresso Show was there to film this magical night, see the video below
