Across my beauty desk…

Of course new makeup related launches has my inner makeup junkie doing girly jumps clapping my hands. These newbies freshly launched and almost available are super noteworthy, so listen up and take note if you don’t want to miss anything.
LANCOME JUICY SHAKERS – As far as I’m concerned, apart from one of my favorite brands launching in SA in a few short months, this is my favorite makeup launch of the year so far. I was positively giddy with excitement when I received mine. These gorgeously packaged jewels simply brim with new innovation. Firstly, the formula combines pigment and lip caring oils, the applicator is a very unique spongy cushion I’ve never experienced in all my years in the industry and lastly the esthetic result is adjustable in it’s intensity. The color is vibrant and sheer in a texture that is not sticky and beautifully shiny. The oil based formula containing peach oil (softening and nourishing), sweet almond oil (lips are supple and re-structured), cranberry oil (anti oxidant, protective and restorative with omega 3 and 6) and musk rose oil (soothing) smooths lips, plumps them, adds shine and tints. Lips are dressed in a splash of juicy color with lush pigment by means of the cone shaped velvet cushion applicator that dispenses just the right amount of pigment at a time. Color infused caresses for lips you won’t be able to resist! They retail for R270 each and you can choose from 20 shades that each have their own quirky name and scent, from MID APRIL. This is going to be THE lip launch of the season, girls! Ban the boring!
Anyone of you who are avid makeup wearers will know the absolute necessity of good makeup brushes. GOSH COPENHAGEN recently launched their new set of MAKEUP BRUSHES with quality even I was supremely impressed with. The softness and workmanship is really amazing. Made from birchwood, the handles are longer, the bristles are 100% man-made or synthetic depending on the brush and they deliver an absolute beautiful finish. The brand chose to use the softest available synthetic hair to avoid any animal cruelty concerns, they are more sanitary than natural hair and the quality is more consistent than natural hair. Another thing to remember is that synthetic hair tend to gravitate towards each other when used, so the finish is more uniform and also they don’t absorb as much of your product as natural hair. You can choose from the Kabuki brush (R240) which is my staple before anything else, the finish is inexplicable, the Blusher brush (R170), the Powder brush (R240) for face and body application and the Foundation brush (R240) for seamless foundation application.
Our favorite international natural resources brand blew me away with their latest skin launches. Good skin is key. For me it’s always been my most important focus on my own face. Good skin = good makeup application or on most of my days – NO makeup application, but that’s besides the point. Firstly, they recently launched their SHADE ADJUSTING DROPS (R300). Available in two variants, Lightening Drops and Darkening Drops will magically transform that ‘almost right’ shade of foundation to the perfect shade for your skin with just one drop. It works like a charm. For light to medium skin tones it can neutralize yellowness because Lightening Drops contain white and pink pigments. With darker skin tones you might experience your foundation shade too light or it makes your skin look ashy – Darkening Drops will darken it to the right shade because red and black pigments will richen the tone. I have recently started trying the new FRESH NUDE FOUNDATION (R275) in Light Sahara which seems to be a perfect match currently, I might have to use Lightening Drops towards winter when I start going ghostly. This foundation has a beautifully light texture, feels very hydrating with rose water extract, lets skin breath, lasts for up to 24 hours and has a spf15. It copies the skin’s natural fresh look perfectly and has a semi matte finish. The nude glow it provides is absolutely beautiful. This foundation should definitely be on your list of new foundations – there are 16 shades, no excuses! Another thing I tried is their ALL-IN-ONE BB CREAM (R230). This very unique color adapting color cream is true innovation. The texture is like a light white lotion that transforms to your skin tone as you apply. I’ve been wearing mine quite a bit and my skin feels comfortable and hydrated all day long, no jokes. Pigment filled capsules burst when applied to offer light to medium coverage. The formula is non-clogging, offers even coverage and contains namibian marula oil extract to keep skin comfortable and hydrated. I’m completely obsessed. For those of you who don’t like ‘the glow’ like I do, you’ll be very happy to try the INSTAMATTE MATTIFYING COMPACT (R215), I’m sure. This mattifying gel in balm texture is suitable for all skin tones and skin types and will keep you shine free all day long. It comes in a cute compact with an applicator and mirror for on the go touch-up during your day. The good thing is you can use it on it’s own or over makeup and I’ve even used it with the above BB cream with great success. Certain parts of your face you want matte (middle of forehead, sides of the nose, chin, etc) and this compact is perfect for that. Areas where you do tend to want to highlight however like the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, above the top lip, inner corners of the eyes, brow bone, etc I use their HONEY BRONZE HIGHLIGHTING DOME (R165) in shade 01. It’s absolutely perfect for highlighting with a super small tinge of warmness. The glow it gives is stunning. I’ve even at the lack of a lip shade nearby grabbed it and popped onto my lips that even more accentuated the bronzed goddessy look. You’ll LOVE these products!
New in the CC Cream market, NEUTROGENA CC CREAM (R99,95) recently launched into their Visibly Clear range. Available in light and medium, it covers spots, controls breakouts and helps mask marks. The light water based formula blends easily, is oil free and contains the brand’s Microclear technology which helps clear spots and fade their marks. When applied it allows skin to breath, provides light coverage to conceal even redness. Although this is a moisturizer I’d also put this into the makeup category since it provides coverage and I see BB creams as makeup most days anyway. What I really like is that when used every day spots are cleared more and more and marks fade gradually. Look out for these at your nearest Neutrogena stockist and try it out, it is said the medium shade works successfully on dark skin tones because the formula blends to well – do give it a try!
