A few new skin tries for me
October 2, 2015
Occupational hazard? Most definitely not. I mean who wouldn’t like to be testing all the newest in skin technology aimed to go into the market soon? I have been using the following four products with great success and I’d say they’re definitely products I’ll be using again. Each of them have completely different in promise, consistency and results so let me explain…
NIMUE CLEANSING MILK – Initially pumping the formula out of the bottle it felt slightly rich and I was wondering how compatible this will be to oilier skin tones. Although oilier skins will normally use something of a gel consistency, dry spots are almost always best sorted out with a cream cleanser. Okay so I had to change my tune as soon as I added water and the cream emulsified to a lightweight lotion that spreads easily and felt completely comfortable on my skin. Milk peptides (to restore skin’s equilibrium), vitamin E (protects and nourishes), allantoin (to soothe and soften) and a combination of acids (lactic, glycolic and citric to exfoliate and moisturize) make this one heck of an effective cleanser. It removes impurities/pollutants/makeup in a gentle enough way while lightly exfoliating, protecting skin against skin radicals, restores skin, increasing moisture levels and reducing epidermal water loss. It is completely fragrance free and can be used by all skin types. Sensitive skin’s can especially rest assured, this milk is as gentle as they come.
THE BODY SHOP INTENSELY REVITALIZING FACIAL OIL – From their newly launched ‘Oils of Life’ range, this oil was made for me, I swear. My self admitted and widely publicly proclaimed oil obsession was taken to a whole new level with this one. Meant to revive, replenish and revitalize skin, oils really are a precious essence of life. The power all comes from seed oils with used in this range. Black Cumin oil from the Egyptian Nile Valley is a powerful anti oxidant. Camellia Seed oil from the evergreen trees in China is rich in nutritive acids and Rosehip Seed oil from the Andes foothills of Chile are rich in Omega 3 & 6. This new range of oils feel sensational, absorb quickly and instantly soften, whether you use the facial oil, essence lotion for body or one of the two face creams (cream or gel formula). Look out for these in store now, they’re perfect for nurturing summer skin!
DOCTOR BABOR DERMA CELLULAR ULTIMATE A16 BOOSTER CONCENTRATE – Need a super fast reboot for your skin? This serum is it. The magic ingredient Retinew A16 is protein extracted from the seeds of moth bean from the Indian subcontinent. Now Babor is using the power of this ancient seed to harness the active Retinew A16 that speeds up skin’s ability to renew, activates skin’s growth abilities and resetting fibroblasts which as you know produces collagen. I noticed after one use the smooth and even effect that could become a slight addiction, so my bets are on twice daily use after cleansing, before moisturizing.
EUCERIN ANTI REDNESS CONCEALING DAY CREAM – This is a heaven sent if you are suffering from hypersensitive or rosacea prone skin. Does alcohol, stress, temperature extremes, among other things, make your cheeks flare up red to end up looking like the mother of all blushes? Eucerin just launched the answer in this lightly green tinted day cream that also offers spf25. The formula is super light and absorbs like a charm, leaving none of the green tinge behind. As a makeup artist we learn from the beginning that in color correcting, green neutralizes red on the face. Applying this principle in a day cream that also offers a spf was genius if you ask me. Because of the lightness in consistency it makes a great base for makeup, making sure red areas are neutralized to make skin look more even. Since sensitive skin can become irritated and inflamed too easily, skin reacts by going red, stinging or itching. In worse cases skin can even become hot, so with using this cream with licorice extract (intensely soothing) and SymSitive (actively soothes and calms) redness is reduced and hidden while skin is soothed and long lasting calmness is experienced. Definitely one to keep in your arsenal, especially since sun season is coming up and a glass of wine (I mean the sun) can bring on a little redness!
